The Egyptian side the king is represented
by a pharaoh of the Middle-kingdom, Ramsis II and
his wife. The Pharaoh had divine status and was regarded
as a god amongst his people. The bishops are represented
by one of the most important deities in the Egyptian
pantheon, Re: the sun-god. The knights and pawns are
Egyptian cavalry and light infantry respectively,
while the rook represents the lotus topped temple
pillars from numerous sacred buildings of the period.

The opposition chess side is the Assyrians.

There are three molds,
one for the king and queen, one for the bishop and
knight and one for the castle (rook) and the pawns.
The image is to show how they can look when cast and
painted. The chess board is not included. |
