Venting Instructions

venting this mold

Vents cut into mould surface.

venting this mold

Hole through the mould with vent to top of the mould.

If you have difficulty getting this mold to fill you could try venting the mold. Vents are thin channels that are cut into the mold surface, which enables air trapped in the mold to escape. Before cutting the vents warm the mold as this makes the rubber easier to cut. With a sharp craft knife cut 1mm channels from the part that is not filling to the outside of the mold usually to the top of the mold. Sometimes it is easier to drill a 1.5mm hole through the mold body and add a vent to the outside of the mold. You will get a small amount of flash on each vent, but this is easy to remove.
